I grew up in Germany, very close to the Dutch border and its famous coffee shops. Surprisingly, cannabis was never on my radar. The acceptance of cannabis in Germany is growing but is not as advanced as it is in Maine.
I mastered in French, English and Media at the university in Hamburg and later became a radio journalist for German Public Radio. I continued this work once I moved to the US, but kept my second career as a medical marijuana caregiver a secret at home for quite a while out of fear of being judged. I remember the first time I helped Damon trim his harvest, I felt like a real gangster!
Only after years of seeing what a difference our edibles made in our patients´ lives, and how beneficial this flower was for myself, was I ready to spread the word about our little pot farm. I had my "coming out" of the cannabis closet at my 20th high school reunion. What fun!
